Usenet Explorer Quickstart: Fetch Headers

Page 6/9 of this article

image

To download headers from a Usenet newsgroup you need to select the tab'Usenet newsgroups' at the bottom of the UE Workspace. It's the most left icon.

As you can see, the group we just subscribed to has been added in the Usenet newsgroup window.

Again, there are more ways to retrieve the headers for the group.
First of all you have to select the Usenet newsgroup for which you want to fetch the headers, in this case 'Testgroup' (this is the name I entered as Nick in adding the group at the previous page). Now right click on the group and select 'Get new headers' in the context menu.

UE is context-driven. This means that a command does different things depending on the state of the program. Actually, the functions are different (but similar) depending on which tab is active in the UE-workspace. This way the number of icons at the toolbar can be reduced. This is also true for defined keyboard shortcuts which means you have to remember fewer shortcuts.

You also can click the 'Get headers/ng.list' icon on the UE toolbar to fetch the headers for the selected Usenet newsgroup.
