Tutorial: Downloading with Usenet Explorer
Binaries4all QuickJumpAuthor: Jaapf
Finally, the long expected new product from the maker of NewsPro has arrived.
In many aspects Usenet Explorer (UE) will be the successor of Newspro. In other aspects it's an entirely new product. Not all functions available in NewsPro are present in UE (although most are already implemented by now), but in the future most of the missing features are expected to find their way to this new product.
By creating an entirely new base (without Microsoft dependency) and smart strategies the maker has succeeded in limiting memory usage and processor strain considerably, while strongly improving functionality and speed in comparison with Newspro.
Although in many aspects the 'look & feel' are the same as in NewsPro, there are huge differences. And there are a lot of new possibilities. For this reason I felt it to be time to create a complete new Tutorial, because the advanced user wants to use all those new functions. And the beginner wants to start using the program as fast as possible.
For that reason the tutorial will be split in two parts.
The first part will be a 'Quickstart'. It's targeted on the novice user, and will help to setup the program. It will allow the new user to start getting headers and downloading binaries with UE in a very short time.
The second part will be a lot more advanced. It will explain all possibilities you can find in UE. How about creating your own GUI (Graphical User Interface), containing only the buttons and functions you use? Or adding shortcut-keys the way you want them? The advanced use of filters? Using UE to post your multipart files to Usenet? Everything will be explained to you.
Since the scope off all this is quite large, not everything will be available directly. During time the tutorial's will be expanded, corrected and updated. Any comments on this tutorial are welcome at our 'Usenet Explorer & Newspro' board at our Binaries4all forum. You can also send a PM (personal Message) to Jaapf at the forum.
For now only the Quickstart section is available.
