FTD - Posts: advanced functionality

Give away kudos
Kudos are some sort of fictive coins/cookies/candy etc. You can give them away to show your appreciation to the poster for posting something. So it is a way to say: 'thank you'. Of course posting a message is also a nice gesture to show your appreciation.
To give away kudos press the 'kudos weggeven' (give away kudos) button at the bottom of a certain post.
A window appears where we can give away some kudos.
As you can see the post and poster are displayed in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. Drag the desired amount of kudos to the center of the window and click on 'Versturen' (send). Now the amount of kudos that you donated will be shown next to any messages you added to the post.
Request PAR files
If your downloaded files appear to be corrupt or incomplete, you need to have PAR2 blocks in order to repair the files with QuickPar (as explained in our QuickPar tutorial). If you need more PAR2 blocks than the number that was posted, you can request the poster (or somebody else) to post extra PAR2 blocks. To do so, click on 'PARs aanvragen' (request PAR blocks) at the bottom of a post. This button is only visible if the poster offers this service and after you have added a message to the post.
A window appears where we can request the extra PAR2 blocks:
Use the slider or the four buttons to specify the desired amount of blocks. After that, click on 'Verzoeken' (request). When someone agrees to create and post extra PAR2 blocks you will receive a FTD mail message in your FTD mail inbox (how to use FTD mail is explained in this tutorial too).
Add PAR files
If you are not the poster, you can still help other downloaders by adding extra PAR2 files. First you have to create those extra PAR2 blocks (this is explained in our QuickPar tutorial). Then click on 'PARs toevoegen' (add PAR2 files) in FTD. A window appears where we can enter the number of extra PAR2 blocks that we want to post.

This works the same as requesting PAR2 blocks: use the slider and click on 'Toevoegen' (add). Click on 'REQ' if you want to post the same number as was requested by downloaders. Then you don't need the slider.
This bar is located below the filenames and shows information about the number of added and requested PAR2 blocks. Click on 'Klik hier voor een overzicht' (click here for an overview) for detailed information.
Here we see that I requested 70 PAR2 blocks and that I will repost 70 PAR2 blocks. This overview grows as multiple people will request or repost PAR2 blocks. Next to my name you can see '1-70'. This means that the first block that I have to post has to be number 1. A second reposter has to start with number 71 etc.
Don't forget to let everybody know when you have finished posting the files by clicking on the star icon in front of your username. If you do this, you will be given a couple of kudos for your help.
FTD mail
FTD provides a way for users to communicate with each other, called 'FTD Mail'. Open FTD mail by clicking on the 'Mail' button.
The FTD mail module starts:
As you can see my mailbox contains one message. On top we see several buttons and two tabs: 'Ontvangen mail' means received mail and 'Verzonden mail' means sent mail. If you click on a message it will be opened. You can reply by clicking on the 'Reageer' (reply) button. And the 'Nieuw' (new) button lets you write a new message.
A new window appears with 'Aan' (to) and 'Onderwerp' (subject) fields. In the middle we can write our reply. If you deselect 'Zichtbaar' (visible) the preview area will be hidden.
Click on 'OK' to send the message. We will get an alert message if the message was sent successfully. You can view your message again at the tab 'Verstuurde mail' (sent mail).
