Usenet Explorer 4.8.1 changelog
Usenet Explorer 4.8.1 brings the following changes:
- Poster code has been revised, so files larger than 4GB can now be posted without splitting into volumes. Be sure not to have any queued post tasks when upgrading, since the task storing format has been changed to accomodate 64 bit file offsets (the posted messages view is not affected).
- The external Par2 command line utility code which is used to generate par2 files has been fixed, the official version is not able to process files larger than 2GB correctly. UE will verify whether the utility is up to date and will prompt the user to upgrade if not.
- Message-id hash function has been revised to prevent the kind of unconventional input addressed in v4.8 from potentially slowing down loading of a large import or other non-compact binary type of group, even as currently it is not an issue with any known poster program.
- "Reclaim purged" headers option setting in properties->newsgroups does now persist between sessions.
